As global tourism moves toward a more sustainable and low-carbon future, EarthCheck certification has become a key benchmark for responsible travel and business credibility.
EarthCheck is the world’s leading scientific benchmarking, certification, and advisory group for travel and tourism. In the Asia-Pacific region, over 70 tourism-related operations — including hotels, hot springs, eco-destinations, and shopping centers — have adopted EarthCheck’s internationally recognized standards to demonstrate their commitment to sustainability and service excellence.
For hospitality businesses aiming to improve environmental performance, enhance brand value, and stay ahead in ESG-driven markets, EarthCheck offers significant long-term advantages — now further supported by policy incentives.
Five Key Benefits of EarthCheck Certification
1. Global Recognition
Certified operators are recognized by international platforms and travel partners, elevating brand visibility and trustworthiness in both consumer and B2B markets.
2. Transparent Sustainability Performance
Annual performance reports — verified by third parties — help operators track and manage key areas such as energy, water, waste, and emissions.
3. Competitive Edge in ESG-Focused Markets
EarthCheck certification gives businesses a head start in securing eco-conscious travelers, corporate clients, and institutional partnerships.
4. Operational Improvement through Expert Support
The certification process provides valuable insights and professional guidance, functioning as a full sustainability audit and internal optimization tool.
5. Government Subsidy Support
Under Taiwan’s Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) 2025 Hospitality Quality Improvement Subsidy Program, operators who obtain EarthCheck (or other qualified sustainability certifications) may apply for up to 80% reimbursement of certification costs, with a maximum subsidy of NT$100,000.
