The initiative aims to support tourism, hospitality, leisure agriculture, place-making, and related industries in establishing sustainable management systems that meet internationally recognized standards.

The event attracted strong interest from representatives across government, industry, academia, and the sustainability sector. Supported by the Nantou County Government and the Rural Development and Soil and Water Conservation Agency of the Ministry of Agriculture, the conference marked an important milestone in Taiwan’s journey toward a more systematic, standardized, and internationally connected sustainable tourism framework.

In recent years, ESG practices, sustainability disclosure, and responsible tourism have become increasingly important priorities for industries worldwide. Taiwan’s tourism and hospitality sectors have also been actively pursuing sustainability transformation. However, many organizations continue to face challenges such as the absence of internationally recognized standards, difficulties in measuring sustainability outcomes, and limited access to independent verification mechanisms.

The introduction of EarthCheck provides the industry with a globally recognized management and assessment framework, enabling organizations to implement data-driven sustainability strategies while effectively communicating their achievements to international stakeholders and markets.

Through its involvement in the EarthCheck Taiwan initiative, RCI Sustainability Group will integrate international standards, consulting services, professional training, and industry support programs to help organizations build sustainability capabilities aligned with global trends and expectations.
