The ECCT's Low Carbon Initiative (LCI) partnered with the Taoyuan International Airport Corporation (TIAC) to host a seminar at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TTIA) titled "Green Gateways: Airport Sustainable Development." The event focused on sustainability in aviation, emphasizing hydrogen’s role in decarbonizing the industry and enhancing sustainability and efficiency within airport operations. The seminar addressed the growing need to integrate green solutions and innovative technologies in aviation to meet global sustainability goals.
Shawn Jang, Managing Director of RCI, discussed strategies for creating sustainable airports through eco-friendly building practices. He highlighted that true sustainability involves mastering fundamentals like monitoring and managing water, waste, energy, health, and carbon data. Shawn outlined a net-zero pathway, starting with identifying decarbonization factors, analyzing energy data, setting targets, and estimating costs for monitoring and recalibration. He emphasized engaging most staff in the process to create an informed, effective strategy and ensure practical, outcome-driven solutions.
