什麼是 LEED Zero?

LEED Zero is a certification programme developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) that recognises buildings operating at net zero performance.

Building on the LEED framework, LEED Zero verifies that a building has achieved net zero performance in key operational areas such as carbon, energy, water, or waste over a defined performance period.

Unlike traditional certifications focused primarily on design intent, LEED Zero emphasizes measured operational outcomes, providing independent verification that buildings are delivering real environmental performance.

LEED Zero Certification Pathways

LEED Zero offers multiple pathways for buildings working towards net zero.

TRUE Waste

Recognizes buildings that demonstrate net zero carbon emissions from building operations over a 12-month period.

This includes reducing operational emissions through energy efficiency and renewable energy, and addressing any remaining emissions through verified carbon offsets.

Recognizes buildings that produce or procure enough renewable energy to offset their annual energy consumption.

This certification demonstrates that a building has achieved net zero energy performance through a combination of energy efficiency and renewable energy generation or procurement.

Recognizes projects that achieve net zero water use by balancing total potable water consumption with alternative water sources such as rainwater harvesting, recycled water, or water reuse systems.

Recognizes facilities that achieve high levels of waste diversion by preventing waste generation and diverting waste from landfill through reuse, recycling, or composting.

Projects pursuing LEED Zero Waste often align with TRUE Zero Waste certification, which provides a structured framework for waste reduction, circular material strategies, and responsible resource management.
